The
Government has established Bharatiya Mahila Bank Limited. The Bank was
inaugurated on 19th November, 2013 and is functional at present with its 9
branches at Mumbai (Maharashtra), Kolkata (West Bengal), Chennai (Tamil Nadu),
Bengaluru (Karnataka), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Guwahati
(Assam), New Delhi and Indore (Madhya Pradesh). There is no proposal to set up
more such banks in the country.
This was stated by Minister of State for Finance, Shri Namo Narain Meena, in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
